Buriticá
It is located approximately 93 km from Medellín, is located at 1,625 meters above sea level and has about 6,600 inhabitants. Founded in 1614 and a municipality since 1822, it is a rural territory with an agricultural and livestock tradition, and with indigenous roots of the Catío people. Recognized for its mountainous geography and history, it combines productive activities and natural attractions typical of western Antioquia.
Buriticá has received more than $46.5 billion that has driven sustainable growth and a substantial improvement in the quality of life of its inhabitants. Environmental and social management, with $34.707 million—including $557 million in 2024—has made progress in environmental conservation, risk management and community capacity building.
Additional social investment, with more than $10.982 million, has been key for education, health, housing and productive development projects. The 1% investment, for $679 million, together with the $171 million from the PAE, has reinforced environmental compensation, emergency care and social support actions.
Thanks to these resources, Buriticá has seen significant improvements in rural roads, schools, hospitals, aqueducts and productive projects, complemented by community training programs and the delivery of school kits, which strengthen the social fabric and the well-being of its communities.
