San Andrés de Cuerquia
Distanced from Medellín by 133 km and with an altitude of 1,475 meters above sea level, it has about 7,200 inhabitants. Founded in 1761, it is an agricultural and coffee municipality, with the production of cane, fruit trees and livestock. Its attractions include waterfalls, gorges, natural trails and religious heritage, which position it as a destination for ecotourism and relaxation in the north of Antioquia.
With a cumulative investment of more than $19 billion, San Andrés de Cuerquia has received resources that have promoted comprehensive progress in social, environmental and community infrastructure.
Additional social investment, with more than $12 billion, and environmental and social management, with $6.525 million—including $8.2 million in 2024—have made it possible to strengthen schools, rural centers, the municipal hospital and household gas projects, in addition to making progress in restoring living conditions for families. The 1% investment, for $506 million, and the PAE, with $355 million, have reinforced the response to contingencies and community support.
These investments are reflected in works such as the educational park, the sports arena, the improvement of rural and urban infrastructure, as well as in community training actions and productive projects, which have consolidated a process of sustainable development and a sense of opportunity for their inhabitants.
